Photography

Many Barbarians are photographers, and obviously photography figures heavily into our work. We also have a Flickr Group, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Here are some recent posts from our employees about Photography:

Stop all the Photographin!

I have a constant, love/hate relationship with modern photography, but people who shoot incessant band photos for their blogs tracks way over to the Hate end of the spectrum.
That said, I do appreciate a great shot, so it’s a conundrum. This comment thread on BrooklynVegan is a really nice snapshot (ahem.) of the current debate. It also has some nice 4th wall breaking from Fleet Foxes themselves.

Songs about everything. Posters about songs about everything.

A few months ago we helped Adobe launch Photoshop Express, their free online version of Photoshop that lets folks mess around with and store (up to 2GB of) their photos. Excellent, right? Yes.
In that tradition of excellence, we also created a bunch of original songs for the members of Photoshop Express to use in their personal slideshows. When I say “we”, I really mean my good and extremely talented friend Sean T Drinkwater. This guy isn’t messing around when it comes to music. His songs are pretty awesome. See (or listen) for yourself at psxmusic.com.

Formal Friday Salute

The Fundamental Theorem of Formal Friday: formality is inversely proportional to the temperature. Saying hello to fall with the blazer, but still clinging on to summer with the shorts.

As a side note, my iPhone camera is getting more artful with its bugginess:

I Made A Flickr Group

Flickr groups are normally nothing to get too excited about (with one possible exception), but this is my first one, and I’m rather proud of the premise (and surprised that it didn’t already exist).
It’s called “Won’t Budge”, and it features immovable objects and the people who attempt to move them. So far there aren’t many contributions, but I know it’s a popular theme in the world of amateur photography, so I’m trying to get the word out about it. Feel free to contribute something if you have it. Below is a random sampling of what we’ve got so far.
